THREEWINGS is pleased to announce the beginning of regularly-scheduled open hours at Queer Youth Space. The newly-opened youth-led community center, which is located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood will now be open at specified times each week for general use by all members of the public, completely free of charge.
Currently, the space is scheduled to be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 4PM to 10PM, as well as Saturdays from 1PM to 10PM. During these times, youth are invited to drop by and hang out in the space, and to take advantage of its numerous resources. The space has a kitchen, couches, tables, Mac and PC computers, a free printer, an HD projector for watching movies and television, a small library with books and movies available for borrowing, safer sex information/supplies and more. QYS’ staff will always be in the space at these times to oversee general operations, to answer questions and to connect anyone who approaches them with outside resources if they so desire.
Everyone, regardless of age, gender or sexuality is highly encouraged to stop by and to use the space, which is the product of countless hours of hard work by so many people over the course of nearly three years. Now that Queer Youth Space is open on a regular basis, THREEWINGS hopes that all queer youth in Seattle will have a safe and affirming space to feel community and to call home. As time goes by, more and more resources will be added to the space.
Please note that the days and times listed here may be subject to change in the future, and that there may be occasions when Queer Youth Space will be closed at these times for use by private groups. THREEWINGS will be sure to announce any permanent or temporary changes in Queer Youth Space’s availability on the website and/or Facebook page of Queer Youth Space. Refer to the calendar on the website for a complete listing of goings-on at the space, which provides information about open hours and special events.
Queer Youth Space is located at 911 E Pike Street, and may be reached by bus routes 9, 60, 2, 10, 11, and 49. The space, located in suite 202 on the second floor of the building, is reachable by stairs and by elevator. Call “#202″ on the phone outside of the building, and someone will let you in.
