THREEWINGS acquired the space that would become the center in early 2012. This acquisition was a major goal of THREEWINGS’ We Need Queer Youth Space campaign, a youth-led community initiative to create affirming and accessible spaces for queer youth in Seattle initiated in early 2010. THREEWINGS showcased the center to the public for the first time at an open house held in August.
Since that time, the staff and board of THREEWINGS have been working tirelessly with numerous volunteers to construct and renovate the center. Even throughout this difficult and messy process, they have managed to host numerous events there, such as film showings, a weekly writing circle and an election-watching party. Now that the main event space is completed, THREEWINGS will have regular open hours.
